About Kaitlin
Kaitlin is a licensed clinical social worker and holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Slippery Rock University and a Master’s degree in Social Work from Cleveland State University.
After graduating from Slippery Rock she interned at Lake Erie Correctional Institute and then worked a residential treatment facility, where she was a Mental Health Specialist in the intensive treatment unit. During her time at the residential facility, she worked with children ages ranging from 6-17 all diagnosed with severe behavioral and attachment disorders. She learned to work collaboratively with providers, families, and mange significant behavioral challenges in a variety of environments. Working in the residential treatment setting helped Kaitlin realize her passion for working with children and families struggling with complex developmental trauma.
She then went to Graduate school to pursue her passion of helping children and families. During graduate school she focused her studies on trauma, attachment, criminal justice involvement in the mental health field, and clinical interventions that can be used to support individuals and families. She left Cleveland State knowing that she wanted to use her degree in the social work field to support healing, growth, and prevention of complex developmental trauma in children and families.
The past 5 years Kaitlin has been working as an outpatient Trauma and Attachment Therapist. Kaitlin specializes in early childhood mental health, and currently works with children ages ranging from 2-16. During her time as a therapist, she has been conducting psychotherapy for children and their families, facilitating groups on attachment disorders and parent burnout, consulting in classrooms providing behavior planning/management support, and facilitates attachment assessments.
Kaitlin works closely with case workers, support staff, education staff, attorneys, GALs, foster and kinship families to better support her clients and families. Her experiences working with families with a multitude of barriers such as developmental trauma, mental health concerns, domestic violence, etc., has led her to support each family with a non-judgemental and strengths-based attitude. Kaitlin tailors her supports to each family and is respectful of cultural diversity. Kaitlin believes that no one should have to face life’s challenges alone and that working as a part of a cohesive team that meets a person “where they are at” is the best way to help support life long changes.
